OCZ FW 1.6 USB Flash Tutorial
OCZ has released firmware 1.6, and I was interested in flashing up to it from 1.5 However, I did not want to waste another CD/DVD on the .iso image. In this tutorial, I will show you exactly what to do in order to use a USB drive for the flashing method. FW 1.6 applies to the Agility, Vertex, Onyx, Solid 2, and Vertex Turbo. Note that if you see "bad command or filename" then follow the instructions in Post #2 of this thread: www.ocztechnologyforum.com SirJamesD.com is rockin' very strong, and join our forums! www.sirjamesd.com I've also created an excellent Lasik doctor directory for the United States. @vexun11 NZXT Sentry 2
What kind of fan controller is that? the bigger one?
@SirJamesDDJ hey can i use the ultraiso method to update my adata ssd firmware, they require me to use a bootable DOS CD as well as a usb drive to update it.
@SirJamesDDJ
The ‘0′ is the only option available, I did try 1 and 2 but get further error message. One thing I forgot to do was switch to IDE, but when I did that on the XP netbook, still same result.
Just tried on this DELL, but the options are SATA and ATA, no IDE, problems everywhere I go… keep plugging away at it I guess
Might have to do a video of my own to show what is happening
@Harley04 There’s where you’re doing it in error. Don’t press “0″
At that point in the video, 4:11 I believe, I pressed “2″ ENTER, and then just press “y” (NOT followed by ENTER), then “1″ ENTER
@SirJamesDDJ
I think you missed the whole point – the flash never worked – that option doesn’t present itself on the black screen?
After I press “0″ and enter, I get the DOS prompt, nothing else, as I said, I then need to power down to get computer back……
If the black screen never shows data, I will never know what the firmware is at.
@Harley04 I had to shutdown with pushing down the power button, also. Perfectly normal.
OK, the Ultra ISO, USB and firmware procedure went fine, but I tried this on both computers, got the black screen, however it doesn’t show the drive or current firmware information.
When I enter the select drive – 0 – the message says, remove the CD and reboot? I have to shutdown with power off.
What am I missing here? Wrong firmware, I used the Vertex, which is what they are?
This only updates the SSD firmware, right? Doesn’t format the disk or lose any data? Might seem a silly question but you never know. I have 2 OCZ Vertex SSD, and I did the firmware 1.4 to 1.5, but that was before I installed them as new drives with Windows 7 on one and cloned XP on the other.
