If you recall from my previous video, in the last part I showed what my BIOS settings were for a 4.5GHz overclock using my i7-980X Gulftown and EVGA Classified 760. Never settling for the status quo, I decided to do some mucking around and have found providence in a low VCore 4.1GHz overclock which I use primarily now. I'll go step-by-step into my settings and voltages, and also show you what gadgets I have on my Windows 7 desktop. raid boots up slower
i have a asus Asus P6T Deluxe LGA1366 motherboard with an Intel Core i7 920 CPU @ 2.67GHz.
when i buy my intel core i7 980x gulftown and overclock it to 4ghz will i need to flash the bios or will it be ok as they are?
@ZaetaAzteca I had an i7-920 in there before.
Did you build you rig from scratch or just an update from older CPU ?
In case were a brand new, how did you solve the problem of flashing bios for i7 980x ?

@CaLLMeImaGinE I could get it to 4.7-4.8 by jacking the VCore to the moon. I’m thinking about knocking down to the 970 Gulfown when that comes out.
great video james. but whats the fastest you think you can get the i7-980X overclocked to to be come stable?
@SirJamesDDJ hey i got the hyperx 2000mhz cas 8 instead. Do you think it would be dumb to take your settings and just test prime95 for 24hours if it stays up?
Since your cpu is at 19C, though my memory does not have fans but high fins only
@mNikke For gaming benchmarks and Vantage I run at 4.4GHz, but for 24/7 and regular gaming I use this 4.0GHz overclock.
For 1866 you’ll have to knock down the mem ratio to 2:12 and also set the timings accordingly.
Im confused. So this is your 4.1ghz 24/7 setup. But it is not for gaming?
Do u lower ur clocks for gaming or what did u mean? Also for corsair dominator gt 1866mhz ram how are the settings affected?
I have corsair dominator ddr3 1600 trichannel 6gb 3×2 soon to be 12gb 6×2. I notice your settings are based on ddr3 2000 memory. What will change if Im using ddr3 1600?

@RKOver17 No nothing like that. So long as you can keep it cool, a bit over 1.4 is fine. I wouldn’t use a 24/7 for that though
@SirJamesDDJ does it say on your cpu box what intel recommend as max cpu voltage? something like 1.4?
@RKOver17 Yeah I got up to 4.8 without much screwing around, but the voltages were WAY too high for my liking
I’ve seen one user get 4.7GHz with this with a custom watercooling setup.

@Kordan9090 Yeah I gotta muck around with the focusing on this thing too. Even though it’s off auto focus it still wigs out on me time to time.
lol Your new camera actually picks up the interlacing on your monitor. I’ve never seen interlacing show up on an lcd like that. Strange. Maybe it’s due to the badassery of the camera.
