Dell 30″ Monitor (Model #3007WFP-HC) STOPPED WORKING. Help!?

Here's the deal. It is a Dell 30" monitor (Model #3007WFP-HC). I was just working along on the computer and the monitor started to make a high-pitched noise, and then the screen went blank. It no longer makes the high-pitched noise, but the monitor still receives video signal (the light on the monitor stays blue, and never turns to yellow, signifying that it has video signal). Any idea what could be wrong/how to fix/how much to fix? Thanks!!

This one’s almost a slam-dunk: your inverter blew out.

An inverter uses a high-frequency oscillator and little coils to produce a high voltage bias for the backlight.. When a coil goes bad, it will often produce a hiss (caused by arcing) or a high-frequency whine for minutes, hours or days before failing completely.
You can see that your monitor is still working by doing this: At night, turn out the lights and hold a flashlight up against the screen while your computer is on. You may have to shield some glare around the edges of the light, but what you’re looking for is a very dim image of your desktop. This will verify that your LCD is working but only the backlight is off.
And the backlight is off because your inverter blew out.
If you’re handy with tools, you can replace the inverter yourself.
