i'm a music producer looking to increase my productivity and i can't decide if i want a dual-monitor setup or a 30 inch. my new mac pro will have an insane graphics card (512 vram) so resolution's not a problem.

2 20 inch. If you both connect them to you cpu, then you can have more programs open at one time. As a video editor, it friggin annoying to always move around all your programs.
30 inch probably
It depends on what you need it for. I think a 30 inch would look nicer and you could have to programs up sharing the screen and it takes up less space but again, I see a lot of people with 2 screens so it might be useful to have 2.
get the 30 inch one
I switched from 2 monitors to a 24″ Dell. I love it.
Remember there is more processor usage from 2 monitors as opposed to one, so this is another reason i would go with one.
I’d go with 2×20″ monitors, especially if you can rotate them 90 degrees into portrait mode. The two monitors will give you more screen space than a single 30″ monitor, and give you more functionality too. Plus, rotated into portrait mode, they look cooler too.
It all depends on how you work:
- If you like everything all over your screen then one monitor will do. Having 30 inch doesn’t necessarily mean you have more room on screen. I’d go for 30 inch monitor if you’re a gamer.
- Having two monitors will help you keep track of what you’re doing while you are doing other task on the other screen. Besides, if you’re just craving for 30 inch monitor why not get two (2) 24 inch instead.
