Batman: Arkham Asylum EVGA GTX480SC SLI without/w EVGA 9800GT SC PhysX Card

One of the few titles which utilizes a PhysX Card so fully, and also has an excellent benchmark, I show the difference between having just the 480 SC SLI run the PhysX and adding a 9800GT SC PhysX Card. Run with not only 2560x1600 with everything maxed out, but I have also filmed 1920x1200. Watch how there are no banners/flags on the left with Hardware Accelerated PhysX on Normal but with a dedicated card they appear with that setting on High! Full results, and the Batman: Arkham Asylum GTX 470 and 480 Rigid Bodies PhysX Patch are available at my website, in the Reviews section: www.sirjamesd.com

the left screen doesn’t have flags :/ does that mean no physx or not maxed out or what?
How well would a GTX 260 (216) run with a 9600GT?
or a GTX 460 (1GB) with a 9600GT?
@Joker8101 I’ve heard I sound like Tom Hanks in Toy Story haha
yu sound like win butler!
(Arcade Fire)
I really like your reviews, keep them coming!
Can you not turn on physics without a dedicated card that does nothing but physx?
Or can you have one gtx480 and play the game with physx on?
@lxlANDlxl .. Good Luck running physX on a .. mx440
@bssb12398 Correct. Batman is one of the games that benefit from use of a dedicated PhysX Card.
Let me get this straight? You were comparing 2 gtx480s against 2 gtx480s + 9800gt
cryostasis is another good physx benchmark, it really does make a HUGE difference in FPS to have a dedicated physx but only if the games support it so it is kind of a moot point. But its a good option if you have a spare 8800 or up video card lying around, why not use it. i got 3 gtx 480s and a gtx260 for physx, and its pretty damn awesome.
What about a single GTX480 and a 9600GT as the PhysX card?
What about a single GTX480 and a 9600GT for PhysX?
@SirJamesDDJ quick question, i’m getting a gtx 480 and new case ect. but would i be able to use my gtx 285 as a dedicated physX card (since physX can be a bitch at times
)
oh and how do you set it up????
@lxlANDlxl It doesn’t have to be a 9800GT. I just use that card because it is a single slot and is plenty good enough.
hay man, what’s the added bonus to having a gt9800 card with it (cos well… all nvidia card can run physX)
and how would you set it up???
@stovnergutt i dont think there is an all-in-one cooler yet. but there is one after market cooler they tried on the 470 and thats the zalman VF3000 vga cooler. otherwise, you can get a gpu watercooling block from most major watercooling companies and do a complex watercooling system.
@mda40000 Do you know if there are any watercooler i can buy for the GTX 480 yet? i heard rumours that corsair was making something similar like H50 just for GTX 4xx..
@stovnergutt ye i know. i was running unigine with a 1.125 only for a clock of 850/1700/2292 and it just barely made it by, but it gets too hot for air.
@mda40000 I tried the voltage you posted and my max temp is now 60 on air, lol? I went down almost 20c..
@stovnergutt lol ok cool. i just play alot of GTA 4 for some reason now because this 480 really does well with the memory size requirement for GTA 4.
@mda40000 Max temp i’ve seen so far is 81c on a really random hot day. It’s usually something like 65-68c.
I’m constantly monitoring my temps with RealTemp. I’m idling at 32c but after a game it takes oddly long time before it cools down.. i have to sit and wait. jumps right down to like 48 then it takes 1 min before it hits 39 and eventually it goes down to 33-35. This is on 80% Fan speed which i find very good with noise/temp.
I changed my Voltage to 1.075 now and i’ll try that for a while.
@stovnergutt use 1.075v core voltage just for for the memory as i can run up to 813mhz core and 1626 shader without artifacts (until hot) and crashing. 1.125 i could reach 845 core 1690 shader with 2283 memory (4566 mhz) so watch your temps lol.
I run this card at, 1125 voltage, 810 mhz core, 1620 shader and 2150 (4300 memory) on 75% fan speed. I never hit 70c in any game at all. MAX i’ve seen after 12 hours of gaming in just cause 2 was 67c and that’s not bad at all.
75% fan speed on GTX 480 made MUCH less noise that 60% on my old Gainward GTX 275…
Some random members from Evga (dot) com just sat a new world record in 3DMark by using classefied 4-way Sli with GTX 480… This card is MUCH better than 5870 despite what ppl say.
Hi ! I bought evga gtx 470 sc sli setup will physix card same as ur setup ? Good video A+++
@madjimms no, your wrong there is no Physic calculation done on ATi cards, ask someone who would know this stuff.
